Confé Bustos, 91, a retired elementary school teacher and resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margarito and Lugardita Martinez Bustos; her brothers, Arturo D. Bustos, Pete G. Bustos and his wife, Eloisa, Eloy Bustos, and a sister, Bessie Montoya and husband, Conrado.
She is survived by five nephews, Ralph E. Bustos and wife, Priscilla of Las Vegas, Robert Montoya and wife, Marie of Santa Fe, NM, A.B. Montoya and wife, Anita of Albuquerque, Don Bustos of Houston, Texas and Randy Bustos of Austin, Texas; two nieces, Patricia Martinez and husband, Danny of Raton, and Ruth Lopez and husband, Maurice of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Lucille Bustos of Santa Fe, and by numerous other relatives and friends.
Confé was born in Rociada on Aug. 4, 1922. She received her bachelor and master of arts degrees from New Mexico Highlands University. She taught elementary education for the Las Vegas City Schools, Paul D. Henry and Castle, and also in Rociada and Española for a total of 32 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. She was a resident of Vida Encantada Rehab and Nursing Center for many years. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for her wonderful care.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 215 Hot Springs Blvd.
A rosary will be recited in the Gonzales Chapel at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday from the Immaculate Conception Church. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
