Phil Espinoza Sr., 81, born July 10, 1931, to Tomas and Matilde Espinoza in Chapelle and a current resident of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Alta Vista Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

He was a member at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and served our country as a United States Marine in the Korean Conflict from Jan. 16, 1952 to Jan. 15, 1954.
He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Isabel Otero on July 24, 1954. He worked for the Campbell's Soup Company in California until he injured his back, returning to New Mexico in 1962 where he held various jobs. One of his passions was to buy and sell antiques throughout the state of New Mexico. He was a frequent patron of the flea markets and antique stores around Las Vegas. He would always make friends everywhere he went.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Espinoza; father, Tomas Espinoza; his mother, Matilde Espinoza; brothers, Eloy Espinoza, Clemente and Mary Espinoza, and Orlando Espinoza; sisters, Flora and Steve Gold, and Mary and Henry Aguilar; sister-in-law, Genevieve M. Otero and brother-in-law, Nap Otero.
He is survived by his son, Phil Espinoza Jr, and wife Irene of Las Vegas; daughter, Connie Silva of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Miranda Saiz, and husband David and children, Hailey and Brooke Saiz of Albuquerque, Aaron Espinoza of Las Vegas, Christina Silva and Dominic Baca and children Aric Silva, Zaden, Zeriah, and Zeanna Baca of Las Vegas, and Jonathan Silva and wife Dillette B. Silva and children Jonathan Jr. and Gabriel of Las Vegas; his sisters, Cecila Estrada and husband Ben and family, Magdalena H. Martinez and family and his brother Joe "BB" Espinoza and family.
Phil leaves behind many special family members and friends. He will be missed by all who loved him.
A devotional rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. A memorial mass with be celebrated by Father George Salazar at 9 a.m. Friday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, accompanied in song by Juan Ortega. Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Miranda, Aaron, Christina, Jonathan and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Brooke, Aric, Zeriah, Zaiden, Zeanna, Jonathan Jr., and Gabriel.
