Anthony "Tony" Aragon, 96, a lifetime resident of Ledoux, N.M., passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, N.M.
He was born in El Carmen, N.M., on Aug. 9, 1922, to parents Juan Aragon and Gregorita Maestas.
A Catholic, and a member of St. Gertrude Church in Mora, N.M., Anthony was a self-employed cattle rancher.
Anthony served in the U.S. Army from November of 1942 of 1944. He was a Mora Independent School board member, Mora San Miguel Electric Co-Op board member, and member of the San Jose Ditch Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Gregorita Aragon; wife Pauline Abeyta-Aragon, sons Leonard, Gilbert, Roger and Lawrence; daughter Maria Anita Aragon; infant son Juanito Aragon; brothers Amadeo, Pete, Gene and Felix; sisters Genoveva Roybal, Dora Aragon and Ernestine Aragon and close friend Juanita Vigil.
He is survived by his daughters and son, Rita Griego (David) of Ledoux, N.M., Tina Beyhan (Bill) of Ft. Collins, Colo.; Elmer Aragon (Oneida) of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters-in-law Ruby Aragon of Ledoux, N.M.; Leona Aragon of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister Adelina Garcia of El Carmen, N.M.; 16 grandchildren, including special grandson Aaron Aragon; 25 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
A rosary service will be recited on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, 10 a.m.
Both services will be held at St. Gertrude Church in Mora with Father Paul Grala, S.O.L.T., as celebrant.
Interment will follow at the Ledoux Cemetery with casket bearers Aaron Aragon, Victor Griego, Joseph Griego, Bill Beyhan, Michael Aragon and Vincent Coffey.
Honorary bearers will be all of his remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
