Anthony Raymond Lopez, 64, of Albuquerque, and a native of Las Vegas, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.

His father and mother, Antonio and Dolores Lopez; brother, Richard and sister, Rosalie preceded him in death.
He graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary in 1962, West Las Vegas High School in 1966 and New Mexico Highlands University in 1974 with a BA Degree in accounting.
He will be remembered lovingly and will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, David of New Mexico; sisters, Connie Martin (Bernard) of Huntington Beach, Calif., Katherine Reilly (Tom) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Lupe Lehman of Albuquerque, Theresa Lopez of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Carlene Lopez of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Larry Lopez of Las Vegas, Dr. Joseph Lopez (Mary Ann) of Albuquerque, Dr. Robert Lopez (Judy) of Las Cruces, and Steven Lopez (Lisa) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Anthony proudly served in the U.S. Army 1967 to 1969. He received his advanced infantry training and specialized instruction on the M42 Duster Weapons System at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served with the First Infantry Division and the Fourth Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and was involved in countless combat operations in the Central Highlands. Medals awarded: Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Anthony's favorite pastime, brought on by his early involvement in Little League, was baseball.
He was an avid and die-hard New York Yankees fan. He was also an ardent Notre Dame fan.
Anthony worked for many years as an HHS Medicare Waste, Fraud and Abuse Investigator in Denver, Colo., and thereafter as President of Lopez Health Care Consulting, Inc., in El Paso, Texas and Albuquerque.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Serving as casket bearers will be the following: Larry Lopez, Joseph Lopez, Robert Lopez, Steve Lopez, George Vigil and Larry Lopez Jr. Cremation will follow mass and interment will take place at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street Las Vegas, N.M.
