Arcenio A. Lujan Jr., 48, a lifetime resident of Rociada, entered into the gates of Heaven on May 9, 2014. Arcenio was a lifetime Catholic and attended Our Lady of Sorrows and the mission church of Santo Niño. Arcenio was born on Oct. 14, 1965 in Las Vegas to Arcenio A. Lujan, Sr. and Maria Elena Ortiz-Lujan. On Sept. 10, 1988, he was united in marriage to Agnes Garcia.

Arcenio graduated from Robertson High School in 1983 and attended Mesalands Community College where he obtained a farrier certificate. He served from 1983 to 1988 in the 720th Transportation Company of the Army National Guard and Headquarters Starc.

Arcenio loved the ranch life in Rociada. He was an experienced hunter, fisherman, rancher, bull rider, outdoors man, farrier and truly a respectable, loving family man. Until approximately 1998, Arcenio was an active and exceptional bull rider who attended and competed in many rodeos and often brought home first-place ribbons and prizes. He worked at the Hutchison Ranch from 1987 to 2013. He tended to his animals and took extreme pride in his work. Arcenio welcomed and greeted family, friends, visitors, and strangers with a warm heart and open arms.

Arcenio was preceded in death by his grandparents, Abedon and Maria Ignacia Ortiz, Vivian and Donelia Lujan; a brother, Michael Lujan; a sister, Guadalupe Lujan; and his father-in-law, George Garcia.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Agnes Lujan of the family home in Rociada; one son, Arcenio Lujan III and one daughter, Natasha Lujan both of Rociada; his parents, Arcenio Lujan Sr. and Maria Elena Lujan of Rociada; two sisters, Clara Lujan-Saiz and husband, Henry of Rociada, and Maria Teresita Grace and husband, Michael of Cleveland; two brothers, Patrick Lujan and wife, Carla of Albuquerque, and Edward Lujan and companion, Sandra of Rociada; his mother-in-law, Pearl Garcia of Guadalupita; four brothers-in-law, George (Janet) Garcia of Albuquerque, Clarence Garcia of Guadalupita, Jake (Leena) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, and Carlos (Bonnie) Garcia of Denver, Colo.; five sisters-in-law, Rita Garcia and companion, Fred Marquez of Las Vegas, Delma (Elias) Grine of Eagle Nest, Darlene (Eddie) Trujillo and Merlene (John) Casados all of Albuquerque, and Lynn (Antonio) Padilla of Las Vegas, and by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today (Friday) from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Father Douglas Mitchell will celebrate the mass. Fidel Trujillo will deliver the eulogy. The interment will follow in the Santo Niño Cemetery in Lower Rociada with the following serving as casket bearers: Jeremiah Lujan, Frankie Garcia, Johnny Ortiz, John Summers, Joe Vigil, Michael Grace Jr., Johnny Ray Garcia Abeyta, and Geno Garcia. Honorary bearers will be Antonio Padilla, Leonard Lucero, Michael Ortiz, Jonathan Casados, J. R. Garcia, Wyatt Lujan, Michael Griego, Brooklyn Aragon, Jaylynn Aragon, Tristen Aragon, and Justin Saiz, and by several God-children and the rest of his nephews and nieces.
