Ms. Candi Abeyta, born Feb. 2, 1952 went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 18, 2013 after putting up a good fight with the horrid disease called cancer in Denver, Colo.

She was born to Ignacio and Estella T. Abeyta from Sapello/Los Alamitos.

Candi is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Cruz Tafoya, Tony R. Abeyta, James Abeyta, Pablo Abeyta; and sister Cordy D. Abeyta.

Candi is survived by two daughters, Estella Romero and Dia Romero-Gonzalez and husband, Marco; niece and nephew, Joleen and Jonathan Madrid whom she raised; grandchildren, Destany, Joyce, Oscar, Angelica, Miguel, Ulysses, Juan Carlos, and Karizma; sisters-in-law, Chris Lucero, Joanna Tafoya, Susie Abeyta; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Father Anthony Boman as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Antonio Cemetery. The following will be serving as casket bearers: Moises Romero Jr., Marco Gonzalez, Ramon Soto, Juan Tafoya, Jonathan Madrid and Lloyd Tafoya. Reception will be announced at burial site.
