Charlotte Ilfeld Ramsay Rubin (1909 - 2017)

The Guest Book is expired.

Charlotte was the second child born to Bina and Herman Ilfeld after her brother, William. She was born in Las Vegas before New Mexico became a state. Her childhood in the then-bustling town was every child's' dream, with lots of friends and fancy-dress birthday parties.

When it was time for high school she was sent to Kansas City to a French Convent, Norte Dame de Zion. Not a happy time, as she spoke not a word of French! However, she did make lifelong friends there.

After Kansas City, Charlotte went to music school in New York, followed by a European tour. That was when she met her future husband in London, Paul Ramsay.

Charlotte and Paul were married in London in 1931. They lived a marvelous life there until World War II when they managed to get on the last convoy back to America.

They settled in Kansas City, where Charlotte had good friends and family. At this point in their lives they had a daughter, Kathryn. Upon taking a vacation to Los Angeles they discovered California weather was a vast improvement over Missouri and move west they did, staying in Hollywood and Beverly Hills for the rest of their lives.

Paul died in 1961 and in 1967 Charlotte married Albert Rubin giving her another daughter, Marilyn Garber and a step-son, Howard Rubin. Charlotte had two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren.

A memorial-burial for this grand lady will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at the Masonic Cemetery, Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Mortuary.
