Consuelo "Chelo" Martinez-Montano, 66, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in Las Vegas.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1946 to Abelino Martinez, Sr., and Feloniz Vigil-Martinez.

Consuelo was a very strong woman and an inspiration to many. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making jellies and going to the casino.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny "Monanie" Montaño; parents, Abelino Sr. and Feloniz Vigil-Martinez; brothers, Leo Martinez and wife Dilia, Feliciano Martinez and Abelino Martinez, Jr. sister, Sencionita Lucier and husband William, brother-in-law, Rudy Lucero.

Consuelo is survived by her daughter and her best friend: Melissa Gallegos and husband David of La Aguila; her pride and joy grandchildren that she helped raise, Derick Gallegos and girlfriend Jen of Ft. Carson, April Gallegos of La Aguila; special friend, Corsinio Pando of Cleveland; sisters and brothers, Martina Lucero and Presel Romero and husband Macario of Cheyenne, Wyo., Beatrice Trujillo of Santa Fe, Ruben Martinez and wife Elsie of Clayton, special relatives are: sister-in-law, Sylvia Baca of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Pete Montaño of Las Vegas; nieces: Rita Bustos and husband Leroy and family of Pecos, Mae Saiz and husband Bernie and family of Santa Fe, Renee Candaleria and husband Chris and boys of Albuquerque, Janet Garcia and husband Alvin and family of Albuquerque, BJ Trujillo of Las Vegas, Mildred Lucero, Bernadette De La Cruz both of Cheyenne, Wyo.; nephew, Amer Martinez and wife Sylvia of Santa Fe; close friends, Mary Lou Roybal, Irene Garcia, Annabelle Romero and Debbie Martinez; close cousins, Lucille Sandoval, and Trujillo brothers, numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rosary devotional services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. Funeral mass will be conducted immediately following the rosary with Father James Sanchez as celebrant. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in La Aguila with the following serving as casket bearers: Armando Bustos, Martin Trujillo, Chris Candelaria, Benjie Trujillo, Jason Trujillo and Jimmy Sandoval.
