Eddie Adelino Herrera, 95, a longtime resident of Mora, N.M., went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to parents Macedonio Herrera and Eutimia Garcia Herrera on Dec. 6, 1922. in El Carmen, N.M. He was a Catholic and a member of St. Gertrude Church in Mora.
Eddie was a loving husband of 70 years, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from 1943 to 1945. He was the band leader of the Mora Larks and a lifetime member of Mora VFW.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Macedonio and Eutimia Herrera; three brothers, four sisters, and special nephew Eddie Herrera. He is survived by his loving wife, Evangeline Herrera of the family home in Mora; daughters and son Elayne Herrera (Steve) of Albuquerque, NM; Diana Reyes (Ernesto) of Texas and Edwin Herrera (Randell) of Mora; grandchildren Sammy Martinez, Joshua Herrera, Kandiss Harmon (John), Isiah Herrera, Jessica Reyes, Vincent Reyes and Jason Reyes; great-grandchildren Hannah, Josiah, Marcus, Lydia, Jason Jr., Kristie, Cody, Natalia and Izabel; special nieces and nephew Odelia Cantrell, Flora Aragon, and Ray Herrera; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A rosary will be recited Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, 9 a.m., at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, with a funeral service to follow, with Father Paul Grala, S.O.L.T.
Interment will be on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M., with the casket bearers Edwin Herrera, Joshua Herrera, Ray Herrera, Alan Cantrell, Carl Montaño, Mike Herrera.
