Evelyn D. Maddux, 52, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, in Las Vegas, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Las Vegas on Oct. 14, 1961, to Mike C. Salazar and Mary Gallegos.
She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed cooking, home projects and wood working. Her family was what mattered most to her.
Evelyn was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Mary Salazar (1983); paternal grandparents: Josefita and Daniel Salazar; maternal grandmother: Maria Inez Montoya; uncles: Ernest Salazar, Eloy Salazar and Levi Salazar; cousin: Lucille Salazar.
She is survived by her husband: Michael Maddux of the family home; son: Benito Gabaldon of Las Vegas; daughter: Eve Gabaldon and boyfriend, Francisco Encinias of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Sammy Coca, Eboni Coca, Francisco Encinias, Jr., Lexi Gabaldon and Nikaya Gabaldon; father: Mike C. Salazar and wife, Gloria, of Las Vegas; sisters: Ida Trujillo and husband, Ruben, of Dallas, Darlene Salazar of Las Vegas, Leona Salazar and husband, Adrian Jaramillo of Las Vegas; Elizabeth Montaño and husband, Frank Montaño, of Santa Fe; brothers: Mike L. Salazar and girlfriend, Gina Gurule, of Las Vegas, Chris R. Salazar of Las Vegas; mother-in-law: Fabiola Maddux of Las Vegas; nieces and nephews: Ruben Trujillo, Jr., Tara Trujillo, Michael Anthony Salazar, Mary C. Salazar, Carlene Salazar, Michael Anthony Salazar, Christopher J. Salazar, Jovan Jaramillo, Miguel Baca, Michael J. Salazar, Isaiah and Jenine Salazar; aunts and uncles: Ercilia Salazar, Aurelia Salazar and family, Johnny Salazar and wife, Rose, and family, Max Salazar and wife, Velma, and family; Daniel Salazar and wife, Bernadette, and family all of Las Vegas, Ruby Clark and husband, Vern, and family of Rio Rancho, Johnny Gallegos and wife, Debbie, and family, Ernie Gallegos and wife, Kathy, and family, Mary Ann Gamel and husband, Roy, and family all of Phoenix, Lilly Lujan and family of Las Vegas, Joe Montoya and wife, Jeanie, of Rio Rancho; special friends: Norma Valdez, Isabel "Chubby" Sanchez and husband, Gilbert, and family; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Serving as casket bearers will be: Mike L. Salazar, Chris R. Salazar, Ruben Trujillo, Adrian Jaramillo, Francisco Encinias and Michael Anthony Salazar. Serving as honorary bearers will be Frank Montaño, Sammy Coca, Jr., and all her nieces and nephews. Cremation will follow services and burial will be held at a later date at Los Vigiles Cemetery.
