Frank Alex Gonzales Sr., 76, passed away at his home on Friday, May 17, 2013, with his family by his side.

He was born on Feb. 9, 1937, in Las Vegas to Eucebio and Felicita (Pino) Gonzales.

Frank graduated from Immaculate Conception in Las Vegas and attended the seminary in Santa Fe for two years. He retired from the Las Vegas Medical Center and moved to Maxwell in 1994, then in 2009 he moved to Raton.

Frank was a devoted Catholic and a member of the St. Patrick's/St. Joseph's Catholic Church. His hobbies were playing horse shoes, watching every baseball game he could and coaching little league baseball, where he earned the nickname "Coach" he also ran the chain gang for football games.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herman Gonzales and infant sister, Tomatia Gonzales.

He is survived by sons, Frank A. Gonzales Jr. of Maxwell and Kenneth A. Gonzales of Raton; daughters, Christina Sisneros (Michael) of Raton and Patricia Cruz (Gerald) of Raton; brother, Don Gonzales of Albuquerque; sister, Celina Gonzales of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Lee Anna Grondin (Joseph), John Robert Sisneros, Jenny Sisneros, Daniel Gonzales, Allison Cruz, and Aaron Cruz; great-grandchildren, Jesse James Flack Sisneros, and John Michael Sisneros, Jr.; nieces, Dee Anna Gonzales, Teresa Miller (George); nephews, George Miller, Jr., Jacob Miller, and Angelo Gonzales.

A viewing will take place at 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, followed by the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 7 p.m., recited by Leroy Quintana and Eloy Gonzales. The Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, also at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, with Father George Salazar as the celebrant. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date.
