Jane Helen Bakerman, a Las Vegas resident for the past 18 years, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Princeton Place Nursing Home in Albuquerque, 17 days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Born May 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Harold and Cecilia Bakerman, Jane moved to Las Vegas in 1995 from Livingston, N.J., after her divorce, seeking healthier, more peaceful living for her and her then 19-year-old daughter, Debbie.
ane graduated from Syracuse University in 1966 with a B.A. degree in education and taught high school mathematics in the Boston area, and later in N.J. until she had her first child, Leonard Siskin, in 1970, at which time Jane became a full-time homemaker. Jane developed an interest in organic food and loved cooking high-nutrient foods for her family.

Jane was also passionate about the healing powers of homeopathic medicine and nutritional cleansing and was a member of the Las Vegas Jewish Community.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Cecilia Bakerman; her older sister, Sheila and leaves behind her son, Leonard Siskin and wife, Rebecca Siskin; grandson, Noah Siskin, 6, all of Bridgewater, N.J., and her daughter Deborah Ann Siskin of Albuquerque. Her friends and neighbors, who would see her on her almost daily walks, will miss her gentle manners and ready smile.
