Jim Garrett Reese, 69, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on his ranch in Milagro, Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.

Reese was born July 16, 1944, in Fort Worth to Muriel and Elizabeth Reese. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Lake Worth High School.

As a young man, he worked on his family's ranch, where his passion for working cattle and horses quickly developed; and it became obvious to all that he was a born natural. He began his career managing cattle for the Foley-Allen Commission Company, located in the now Historic Fort Worth Stockyards Exchange, and soon after, he became an Order Buyer for their company. He later began his own cattle operation and continued ranching in the Parker County area for several years, before moving to New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his father.

His survivors are his mother, Elizabeth Reese of Golondrinas; son, Brandon Chad Reese of Azle, Texas; daughter, Piper Reese Pardue of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Sawyer Reese Pardue of Fort Worth, Texas; and his siblings, Jerry Wilhite of Aledo, Texas, Anson Reese of Fort Worth, Texas, Jeff Reese of Las Vegas, Laurie Crow of Azle, Texas, Sarah Horner of Azle, Texas, Joel Reese of Weatherford, Texas, and Lisa Griego of Golondrinas, and their families.

Service will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Rogers Mortuary Chapel in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Lifelong friend, Rev. Don McKee will officiate.

Graveside service and burial will be in Buena Vista on the Reese Family Ranch, with the following serving as casket bearers: Jeff Reese, Joel Reese, Anson Reese, Kenneth Mckenzie, Joe Lopez and Dewy Clark. Honorary Bearer will be Mike Crow.
