Jim Muriel Reese passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at his home in Golondrinas.

Muriel Reese lived a great life, a big life, an adventurous life. He was one of the "greatest generations," who served for the cause of freedom during World War II. As a rancher, he loved horses, cattle, and wide-open spaces. He loved to tell a story. He along with his wife Elizabeth opened their home and hearts to many. He considered his family his greatest accomplishment.

He will be missed dearly and we are so grateful for his life and the legacy he leaves. He was a lifetime rancher who grew up in the Ft. Worth Stockyards with his father as a Cattle Order Buyer. He was united in marriage to Ruth Elizabeth Garrett Reese on Nov. 2, 1941 in Ft. Worth, Texas. He served in the United States Army as World War II Veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, he served with Company G 307 during World War II in South Pacific until he left for the Pacific.

Muriel was a real estate broker in the state of Texas.

He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Reese of the family home in Golondrinas; daughters and sons: Jeri Wilhite and husband Kenneth of Aledo, Texas, Jim Reese of Milagro, N.M., Anson Reese of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jeff Reese and wife Helen of Las Vegas, Laurie Crow and husband Mike, Sarah Horner all of Azle, Texas, Joel Reese and wife Judy of Weatherford, Texas, Lisa Griego and husband Lucas of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Stephanie Watson and husband Zane and family of Fort Worth, Texas, Reese Wilhite and wife April and children of Weatherford, Texas, Ford Wilhite and wife Megan and children of Anchorage, Alaska; Chad Reese of Azle, Texas, Piper Pardue and husband Brett and daughter of Ft. Worth, Texas, Col. Steve A. Reese and wife Amy and children of West Virginia, Sommer Swallow and husband Mike and son of Houston, Texas, Julie Reese and fiancé Brent of College Station, Texas, Raychel Hosch and husband Don and children of Las Vegas, April O'Neil and husband John Charles and children of Las Vegas, Hannah Crow, Rebekah Ford and husband Bobby and children, Josh Horner and wife Misty and daughter all of Azle, Texas, Micah Horner and wife Carolyn of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lucas Griego Jr. and Angelica Tafoya and children of Las Vegas, Liz Griego and Marcos and children of Albuquerque, Christian Griego and companion Justin Sanchez and children, Michael Griego and Gabby Griego all of Las Vegas; nieces, Danelle Brand, Debbie Branum, Sharon Anisworth; nephew, Mike Mercer; special family, Linda Reese and Randy Hunt .

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Rogers Chapel with Pastor Don McKee officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Reese Family Cemetery in Golondrinas with the following serving as casket bearers: Col. Steven A. Reese, Chad Reese, Reese Wilhite, Josh Horner, Micah Horner, Lucas Griego Jr. and Michael Griego. Serving as honorary bearer will be Ford Wilhite.
