Jose S. Archuleta, 83, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Samuel Archuleta and Escolastica Padilla Archuleta on July 5, 1935 in Mora, N.M. He was united in marriage to Florida for 61 loving years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florida Archuleta, of the family home in Las Vegas; daughters and sons Susan Lovato (Andres), Richard Archuleta, Tony Archuleta and Irene Martinez Archuleta, all of Las Vegas; Eric Archuleta (Nicole) and Jose Archuleta Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M.; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Escolastica Archuleta; brother Rafael Archuleta, sisters Elvira Mondragon and Josefita Trujillo, mother and father-in-law Fulgencio and Clorinda Valdez, and brothers-in-law Paul Valdez, Fugencio Valdez Jr., and Floyd Valdez.
He worked at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute as a dietary supervisor in the Food Service Department. He also worked at Wal-Mart as a door greeter for many years.
He enjoyed being around his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and was an avid of music and was part of Los Archuleta Family Band.
A public viewing was held Monday, Sept. 24, 2018.
Wake services were to be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, with both services at Mountain View Church of Christ, 53-A Mountain View Drive, Las Vegas, N.M., with Pastor Leroy Aragon officiating.
Serving as casket bearers will be Richard Archuleta, Tony Archuleta, Jose S. Archuleta Jr., Eric Archuleta, Andres Lovato Jr., Andres Lovato III, Roger Vigil and Christopher Archuleta.
Cremation will follow after the services. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
