Kenneth Roy Sprinkle was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Fort Worth, to Roy and Miriam (Jerre) Sprinkle, and passed away July 10, 2018, in New Mexico.
He is survived and missed by his wife, Kathryn; his son, Tracy; his daughter-in-law, Christy; his grandsons Jonathan and Ethan; extended family members Samuel Bentum and Robert Kantee, and a multitude of cherished family and friends.
Ken had a lifelong passion for music. He sang in the Texas Boys Choir. He could play most brass instruments, but loved the trumpet. He worked in the Music Department at Howard College, and later served as the Director of Music at Acton United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Marshall.
Ken was an Eagle Scout and fishing fanatic; he enjoyed golfing, bird hunting and thoroughbred racing. Ken had a keen interest in Native American culture and heritage and spent a lot of time honing his flint knapping skills.
He shared this cultural passion with his wife, Kathy, and in 2014, they moved to New Mexico full-time. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at First United Methodist Church, Las Vegas, N.M. A reception will follow.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ken's name to First United Methodist Church, Las Vegas, with special designation for either the church music department or the Las Vegas Community Soup Kitchen.
