Lawrence "Lucio" Montoya passed away at his home on Jan. 16, 2013.

He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla, of 48 years; his son, Lawrence (Sonya); daughter, Barbara (Richie); grandchildren, Lawrence (Andrea), Daniel (Yolanda), Dominic, Davonne, Brianna, Tameera and Gavin; great-grandson, Daniel; great-grandbaby on the way; sisters-in-law, Mae (Eloy), Dolores, Frances, Geneva; sisters, Fabiola and Helen (Gilbert); brother-in-law, Tony (Betty); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He cherished playing with his grandchildren and telling them stories about his childhood and spending time with family. Family was extremely important to him.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne; parents, Miguel and Clara; mother and father-in-law, Antonio and Isabel; and son-in-law, Daniel.
He was born and raised in Las Tusas. He served in the United States Army and was a lieutenant at the State Penitentiary. He loved spending time at the ranch and being outdoors, especially hunting with family and friends and spending time with his bible studies with Jehovah's Witnesses.
The pallbearers are: Lawrence Montoya Jr., Lawrence Montoya III, Daniel Romero, Bobby Mendenhall, Ron Madrid, Jason Madrid, Ivan Montoya and Rodney Mascarenas. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for Thursday at Berardinelli Funeral Home in Santa Fe. Viewing from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., services from 11 a.m. to noon and burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
