Lotus M. Goetsch, 88, a longtime resident of San Miguel County passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas.

She was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on June 10, 1924, to Charles R. Collier, Sr. and Anna Mae Peters. When the time arrives to describe one's life and accomplishments, words seem not to have enough strength.

Lotus lived a full life. She was a dedicated loving wife and mother. A rancher's wife for more than 51 years, can only be understood by those living it. She helped her husband, John working with the cattle and sheep, in their daily ranch life together.

She was a member of the "New Mexico High Country Cowbelles." Loving to cook for family and friends, no one was allowed to
leave hungry.

She enjoyed canning and preserving foods from the garden each year. Her hobbies included, but were not limited to, quilt making; every family member has one. She made dolls and doll lamps, she made clothes and fancy fiesta dresses which she sold. Lotus spent countless hours making her family tree, she also liked to do home decorating and refinishing furniture. Her greatest accomplishments were her endless concern for her family and friends. She always put others first. How can you sum up ones life with words? You can't.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. Collier, Sr. and Anna Mae Peters-Collier; and brother, Jackson Collier.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Goetsch of the family home; son, George Tyler and wife Patricia of Las Vegas; twin sons, Kelly Goetsch and wife Stella and Kerry Goetsch of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Tracy Tyler, Edwin Goetsch, Sarah Goetsch and Branden Goetsch; sister, Opal Griffin of Greer, SC; brother, Charles Collier, Jr. and wife Cindy of Canyon, Texas; brother-in-law, Joseph Allen Goetsch and wife Patti of Watrous; sister-in-law, Arlene Phillips of Roswell; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Boys & Girls Ranch: 6209 Hendrix Rd. NE. Albuquerque, NM 87110.
