Minnie Rivera, 69, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, went to be with her loving Heavenly Father on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe following an extended illness.

She was born in Las Vegas on Dec. 18, 1943 to the late Frank and Trinidad Castor, and preceded in death by her husband, Lucio Rivera; Godson, Kenneth McOsker and brothers-in-law, Donald and Larry Rivera.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and best friend. She was a very caring and happy person. Her laughter was contagious. She was a retired nurse from NMBHI. She spent her last years with her family. She had a passion for taking care of people. She loved reading and going to the casino and playing the slot machines. She also enjoyed singing and song writing. She enjoyed sharing stories with her family about life journeys. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

She is survived by her daughters and sons, Darlene Goodman and companion, Robert of Las Vegas, Alejandro Rivera and wife, Sharon of Las Vegas, Rick Rivera and wife, Evelyn of Villanueva, Cassandra Gonzales and husband, Rick of Las Vegas, and Joseph Rivera of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Michael Lujan and companion, Tina, Sherry Alderete and husband, Julian, Joseph ""Jojo"" Rivera, Andrew Rivera, Amos Rivera, Joseph T. Rivera, Adrian Rivera, Santana Rivera, and Noah Rivera; great-grandchildren, Anthony Lujan, Samuel, Jazlynn and Jaylynn Alderete; Godsons, Gerald Lopez and Phil Rivera, and God daughter, Prescilla Arguello. She was also survived by her brothers, Juan, Fred, Jimmy and Camilo Castor of Las Vegas; sisters, Neddie and husband, Martin McOsker of Albuquerque, Prescilla Rodriguez of Denver, Colo., Esmeralda Rivera of Las Vegas, Albinita and husband, Gerald Lopez of Las Vegas, and Cecilia Castor of Las Vegas. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law whom she also loved, Roger and wife, Jane Rivera of Ribera, Lugie and husband, Rudy Valdez of Santa Fe, Fileberto Rivera and companion, Eileen, Louie Rivera of Ribera, Henry and wife, Marcella Rivera of San Juan, Lawrence Rivera and companion, Nora of Las Vegas, Martha Romero of Santa Fe, Dorothy Martinez of Las Vegas, Marilynn Rivera of Denver, Colo., Roseanne Lynch of Philadelphia, Pa., Esther Aguilar of Pueblo, Colo., and Cristella Montoya and husband, Florian of Chimayo.

She also has numerous nephews, nieces and many friends.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a very special mother.

Mass services will be held at 9 a.m. today (Friday) at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father George Salazar as celebrant.
