Robert E. Baker, known to his friends as "Bob", passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. Bob is survived by his long time partner, Katherine B. (Kay) Dobelman, whom he referred to as his Angel and Pumpkin Puss. Kay was the love of Bob's long and wonderful life.
Bob was a man of many talents who was beloved by everyone he met. He was a terrific musician who played guitar and sang while touring the country as a star in the 1950s and 1960s, but that was far from his only talent. He had a great ability to draw freehand sketches and cartoons.
Born an entertainer, Bob entertained his family and friends throughout his life by singing, playing his guitar and, of course, by telling funny and fantastic stories. Bob was a great storyteller who regularly "held court" with all who were blessed to know him.
Bob never met a stranger. He was warm, friendly and incredibly charming to everyone he met. A passionate lover and friend of animals, Bob exhibited his compassion and care for all animals on a daily basis. He literally spent thousands of dollars feeding, caring for and protecting the animals within his sphere of influence. Bob is unforgettable.
Bob was an incredible physical specimen, having been a body-builder in his earlier years and continuing to take care of his physique for the remainder of his life. He was at the original Muscle Beach in Venice, Calif. With his movie-star looks and physique, Bob was always a huge hit. He loved life and embraced it to the fullest in every way.
He loved his children and grandchildren and delighted in the time spent with them. He was survived by his sons, Daniel (Danny) Baker, Robert E. Baker, III (Bobby), and David J. Baker. He was preceeded in death by his beloved daughter, Bianca.
Bob was a successful businessman having had a service business after retiring from the entertainment business. He also had a very successful coin and paper money business (Baker Notes). Bob researched his business interests and was always prepared. He did his homework.
Bob resided at various times in his life in California; Daytona Beach, Fla; Houston, Texas; Gallinas, New Mexico (Beaver Cabin) and El Dorado, New Mexico. Bob was born in Springfield, Mass.
There are currently no services planned at this time. However, there will be a memorial remembrance to celebrate his life at a later date, yet to be determined. Friends and associates will be contacted with the date once it's finalized.
