He greatly enjoyed working from the early sunrise to sundown, whether it was tilling the land, planting corn and peas, or constructing doors and furniture. Because of his passion for farming at an early age, he was nicknamed by his father as "Isidro" after the patron saint for farmers and gardeners – San Isidro Labrador. Teodoro was widely known for making the "best" chicos (horno-cooked and sundried sweet corn) around. He greatly enjoyed teaching his farming and woodworking skills to his children and grandchildren and always made time to visit with his loving relatives and friends alike.
