Tranquilino "Lino" Barela, 79, a longtime resident of Mora, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Mora to the late Dionicio Barela and Francisquita Medina Barela.
He spent most of his adulthood working as a sheep herder in Wyoming. Upon returning to his hometown of Mora, he became an individual who was thought of by many people as a quiet and good individual. His pass time included him buying food to feed his adored dogs, cats, and the wild birds that would come near his home.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters, Mary Maes and Juanita Collins; brothers, Lazaro, Ramon, Crisantos and Paul Barela; and niece, Viola Casias. Barela.
He is survived by his brother, Donicio Sandoval and wife, Jane of Rocky Ford, Colo.; nieces, Alpha Duran, Lillian Martinez, Elsie Sanchez, Celestina Maes, Patricia and Diane Collins; nephews, Claudio Maes, Floyd, Larry, Benjie, Ernie and Eddie Barela, and Scott Collins; good friends, Louie and Viola Garcia, and Frank Martinez, all of Mora; numerous, great nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends all in which "Lino" loved and cared about dearly.
Rosary service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday with funeral mass to follow with both services at St. Gertrude's Church in Mora with Father Paul Grala as celebrant. Interment of cremains will follow at the Mora Cemetery in Mora.
