Wayne M. Lucero, born December 29, 1963, passed away Monday, July 24, 2018.
Wayne was born to Joe and Lillian Lucero in Las Vegas, N.M.
Wayne attended the West Las Vegas School system, graduating from West Las Vegas High School, then he continued his journey to the military, attending basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Then AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Wayne returned to Las Vegas to join the 720th National Guard team as a heavy equipment operator.
Wayne continued to support his community as well as his state with the 720th. He started his family and became a loving and devoted father to his son, Aaron, and daughter, Jessica. Wayne was a carpenter by trade, and a soldier at heart. Wayne always had a smile that was contagious, and his crazy stories never failed to put a smile on faces. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider, and of course he loved his Broncos.
Wayne was adored by everyone he crossed paths with. He was a hard worker and loved to hunt and fish.
Wayne never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Wayne was inspiring, creative, and passionate about the things he loved.
He was also an incredible artist. But most importantly, he was a proud father and also a grandfather to two amazing boys Aaron and Jason.
Wayne is preceded in death by his sister Linda Lucero, and younger brother Brian Lucero. He is survived by his parents Joe and Lillian Lucero.
His son, Aaron Lucero, and daughter, Jessica; grandsons, Aaron and Jason Jr.; brother Randy and wife Joy Lucero; sister Suzanne Agular; numerous nieces and nephews; godparents Willie and Dolline Garcia; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and so many friends.
The Lucero family would like to thank the numerous caregivers and nurse's who helped Wayne throughout the years.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, 7 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, 9 a.m., with interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
