Abel David Lucero, 50, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014.

He was born Sept. 26, 1963, in Las Vegas to Leroy and Rita Lucero.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He loved hunting, fishing, sports, camping, watching his kids and family participate in sports, cooking and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Fernando and Emilia Baca; paternal grandfather, Abel Lucero; step-grandfather, Delfinio Gonzales; and aunt, Inez Lucero.

He is survived by sons, Johnathan Lucero and Dominic Lucero and Tori Gallegos, all of Las Vegas; parents, Leroy and Rita Lucero of Las Vegas; brothers, Joe D. Lucero and wife, Naomi, and Mike Lucero and wife, Cathy, all of Las Vegas, and Carl Lucero and wife, Tammy, of Española; nieces and nephews, Billy Joe Lucero and wife, Mary, of Albuquerque, Brandy Lucero and friend, Adrian, of Las Vegas, Kristen Lucero and Paul of Albuquerque, Diego Lucero of Las Vegas, Robert Loera and wife, Lindsey, and Jennae Lucero, all of Albuquerque, Curtis Lucero of Las Vegas, Destiny Lucero and Leroy Austin Lucero of Española; great-nieces, Naleah Lucero of Las Vegas, Jaelynn Loera and Jade Marie Loera of Albuquerque, and Miranda, Angelica and Alyssa of Albuquerque.

The rosary service with be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas with the following serving as casket bearers: Billy Joe Lucero, Diego Lucero, Robert Loera, Curtis Lucero, Alfred Baca, Carl Armijo, Richard Martinez, Val Salas,and Lalo Baca. Serving as honorary pallbearers: Adrian Gutierrez, George Ortega, Mike Griego, and Eric Pacheco. The eulogy will be delivered by Darlene Ulibarri. The family would like to express their appreciation to: Superior Ambulance Services, EMT, Alta Vista Hospital, Christus St. Vincent Hospital, and Presbyterian Medical Services.
