Lucy Montoya, 62, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of Las Vegas, was called to the Lord surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque.

She was born in Trujillo on Oct. 2, 1951 to the late Deciderio Baca and Navora Martinez Baca.

She was united in marriage on Aug. 14, 1971 to George A. Montoya at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Lucy grew up in Trujillo and Weslaco, Texas then later moved to Rio Rancho with her husband and raised their children. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Lucy loved to go camping and enjoyed many family reunions at Tres Ritos campgrounds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Orlando Baca; brothers-in-law, Max Lopez, Roger Romero and Gilbert Montoya; sister-in-law, Mercy Montoya; and father-in-law, Sigfredo Montoya.

She is survived by her husband, George A. Montoya, of the family home in Rio Rancho; daughter, Peggy Montoya of Albuquerque; son, James A. Montoya of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Isabella Montoya, Bianca Anaya and James "JJ" Montoya; sisters, Helen Lopez of Las Vegas, Delphy Romero and husband, Frank, of Santa Fe, Marie Romero of Los Vigiles, Emma Morales of Alamo, Texas; brother, Claudio Baca of Las Vegas; mother-in-law, Clorinda Baca of Edgewood; sister-in-law, Vangie Encinias and husband, Eddie; brothers-in-law, Luciano Montoya, Pete Montoya and wife, Jeanette, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Marla Montoya of Edgewood; special friend, Gloria Montoya; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday also at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at Los Montoyas Cemetery in Los Montoyas with the following serving as casket bearers: Frank Romero, Jr., Martin Lopez, Steven Duran, Andrew Montoya, Sammy Duran and Chris Montoya. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be all her grandchildren.
