Funeral services for Pablita "Polly" Torres, 83, of Portales, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Portales. Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery.
Pablita Torres was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Sena, N.M., to the home of Rita and Patricio Garcia and died in Lubbock, Texas, on May 2, 2013.
Mrs. Torres lived in Sena, until her marriage to Alfonso Torres on May 15, 1952, in Villanueva.
They worked as migrant workers in southern Colorado for several years, and then moved first to Dora, and then to San Jon, where they lived until 1979. Since then she had made her home in Portales.
She is survived by five sons, Alfonso, Patrick and Jesse Torres all of Portales, Kenneth of Roswell and Anthony of Albuquerque; five daughters, Viola Terry of Logan, Margie Villanueva and Rita Torres of Portales, Lyene Terry of Clovis and Suzie Valencia of Seattle, Wash.; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Miguel Garcia of Rio Rancho and Joe Garcia of Yakima, Wash. and three sisters, Cora Aragon of Las Vegas, Evelina Valencia of Yakima, Wash. and Lucy Ortiz of Santa Fe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joselino Garcia; a sister, Toni Sena and her husband, Alfonso Torres who died Aug. 26, 1986.
