He was preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Talpita Griego; his brothers, Corcino, Seferino, and Henry Griego, and his sister, Lucille Griego.

Besides his wife Julia, Simon is survived by his children, Patrick Griego, Robert and wife, Denise, Griego, Lydia and husband, Rod, Hansen, Katherine and husband, David, Blanchard, and Sidney Griego.

Simon was an incredible man who enjoyed life. He worked as a logger and rancher. He also spent time in the military and served in World War II. He was a member of Post #1131 of the VFW of Mora and was a member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching western movies and taking care of his ranch.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the members of Ambercare Hospice and Palliative Care Association. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the month were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family.

We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.

Cremation has taken place, and services will be held from St. Gertude's Catholic Church in Mora with a rosary at 9 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Father Dennis Dolter will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Guadalupita.
