William LUCAS

LUCAS, William Lee May 8, 1923 - February 3, 2013 During WWII, Bill was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a gunner in a Black Widow (P-61) aircraft in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he attended and graduated from U.C.L.A. with a Masters and Doctorate degree in the field of education. It was there that he met his future bride Patricia. Both entered long and distinguished careers in education. Bill moved from the classroom to become a school principal. He ended his career of 42 years, serving as an Assistant Superintendent in the Los Angeles Unified School district. He was a distinguished educator and communicator. Bill handled all legislative matters for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, an expert fly fisher and bird hunter. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, mother Florence Lilly, father Cedric Lucas and brother Cedric Jr. Bill is survived by two sisters, Dolores Elliot (Eddie) and Susan Guidry (Richard) one brother-in-law Father Kenneth Eade (Doris) 5 nieces, 5 nephews, 10 grand nieces, 10 grand nephews, 3 great grand nieces and 1 great grand nephew. A Memorial Service will be held February 12, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church at 2001 El Camino Real, Oceanside, California at 11:00 A.M.
