Allan Rinde

Rinde, Allan
April 6, 1941 - December 14, 2012
We are saddened by the passing of Allan Rinde, former publicist, journalist, West Coast Editor of Cashbox, head of West Coast A&R at Columbia, where he was behind Billy Joel's first hit, "Piano Man," and the man who helped break the Jesus Christ Superstar album. He died suddenly on Friday, December 14th, from a heart attack. Allan was probably best known as the owner of L.A.'s Genghis Cohen restaurant on Fairfax, which became a live showcase for many acts and a celebrity hangout over the years. He is survived by his sister, Helen Rinde, his niece, Jana Kosmopoulos, and his former wife, Toni Wine. He will be missed by the many who counted him as their best friend and soulmate.
