Basil (Bill) Joseph Piazza was born in Akron, Ohio on January 28, 1929 to Samuel and Angela Piazza and passed away suddenly in Mission Viejo, California on April 4, 2013. Bill and his wife Bette met in Akron, Ohio and were married in 1953. They moved to Los Angeles where Bill and his father started Piazza Trucking. They were married for 34 years until Bette's passing in October 1997. Bill is survived by his sons Michael, William (Aimee), Robert (Jeanette), grandchildren Michael, Andrea, Andrew, Steven, Kristen and great-granddaughter Hayden. Bill is also survived by his brothers Joseph (Joan) and Samuel, Jr. (Judi), nieces Angela, Joan and Rosemary, nephews Joseph, Jr. and Samuel III. Bill was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Kilian parish for almost 35 years. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1958 and was a member of the Elks Lodge. Bill had a passion for the armed services and loved to attend Army and Navy airshows. Bill was a social and friendly person who truly enjoyed family and social events. Bill loved to watch western movies and his favorite actors were John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. For many years Bill enjoyed taking family, friends and customers to Elizabeth Howard Curtain Call Dinner Theater.
A vigil and Rosary will be held for Bill at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Mission Viejo on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Kilian Catholic Church on Saturday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment graveside services at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach, with a reception following at Sea Cliff County Club in Huntington Beach. Bill will be truly missed by his loved ones for his kind and gentle spirit.
