April 3, 1922 - May 10, 2014 Born in Saint Louis to Sam Bermack and Eva Ohren Bermack; moved to Los Angeles when he was 8. He fought in World War II, helped liberate a concentration camp, and worked with refugees after the war. He married Audrey Sternfeld, his life-long partner, in 1947. He was an insurance agent, an active square dancer, and a volunteer docent in the LA Zoo. He was involved in many community groups, including the Rotary Club
. He was known for his gentle humor, good nature, and genuine interest in people. He is survived by his son Richard Bermack and Richard's wife Nancy Van Zwalenburg; his daughter Francene Bermack Grace and her husband Joe Grace; and two grandchildren, Eli and Sophie Grace.
