Charles Johnson died peacefully at his home in Lake Arrowhead at the age of 83. Born into the third generation of the pioneer Johnson family in Chatsworth, his father was Ray Lavalle (Kelly) Johnson, at one time the only postman in Chatsworth, and his mother was Katharine Walton Johnson, piano teacher and organist at Chatsworth Methodist Church, founded in 1880 by Ann Willden Johnson, his great-grandmother. Chuck (or Charlie) was a Los Angeles City firefighter for 25 years and also worked as a general contractor. He is survived by his wife Marcia Baile Johnson; daughters Linda (Victor) Gavenda and Kathy (Steven) Gale; sons Michael (Erin), Steven, and David (Susan) Johnson. Also surviving are his grandchildren Shannon, Ashley, Heather, Maegan, Lauren, Emma, Neils, Genevieve, and Katharine.
