January 19, 1923 - July 17, 2014 David H. Kuntz, M.D., age 91, of Los Angeles, died peacefully on July 17. David was born in Sioux City, Iowa. A lifelong seeker, scientist and artist, he entered the University of Iowa
at 16, where he met his love and muse Pauline, and later graduated from medical school in 1946. Immediately thereafter, Pauline and David married and David travelled to occupied Japan, where he served as a physician in the Army. The couple moved to Los Angeles in 1951 and David practiced medicine with a specialty in urology for 46 years. The doctors and nurses with whom he worked and his grateful patients spoke not only of his knowledge and expertise, but also of his humor, kindness and gentle concern. Endlessly curious and creative, David was a voracious reader and reciter of poetry, an artist whose paintings and sculptures were the subject of a 2011 retrospective at Track 16 Gallery, an inventor who secured many patents for medical and non-medical devices, an avid gardener, a lover of art and travel, and, most enduringly, a loving husband to Pauline. In addition to Pauline, who cared for him lovingly and valiantly as he struggled with Alzheimer's disease, David loved, inspired and was loved by his children, Stephen Kuntz (Jeanne) and Carol Patchett (Tom), and grandchildren, Emily, Michael and Samantha Kuntz, and Benjamin and Stephanie Lysaght. David's family invites friends and relatives to a memorial service Sunday, July 20 at 12:00, p.m., at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles 800.576-1994.
