Eleanor Franks

Franks, Eleanor Craig
February 20, 1922 - January 4, 2013
Eleanor passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 90. Born Eleanor Babette Cohen in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of Myron and Edna, sister of Marian, she was a longtime resident of Beverly Hills until her move to Del Rey Colony in Venice in 1989. Eleanor was married to John A. Lindheim, Dr. Benjamin R. Craig and Robert J. Franks (all deceased). She was the loving and devoted mother of Andrea Craig Roth (Stephen Schurkey), Steven Craig (deceased) and Robin (David) Swartz, and a very doting, proud and affectionate grandma to Justin Roth, and Devon and Ryan Swartz. Eleanor was an elegant lady who loved travel, fine dining, going to the theater and reading a good book, and was active in many charitable causes during her life. She was a generous friend and hostess and loved animals, especially her dog Poochi. Due to osteoporosis and related issues, Ellie wasn't able to get around as much in recent years, but she did her best to live life to the fullest. Her devoted caregivers, especially Dara, Erica and Gabby, and previously Nancy, Cherryl, Linda and Furn, helped make life easier for her. She most enjoyed being with family and friends, who will miss her dearly. We are comforted in knowing that she is reunited with her son Steven.
Services will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday, January 8, at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Children's Burn Foundation, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
