F. Maxine Droessler

icon February 11, 1921 - February 9, 2014 Our dear mother and grandmother was a loving woman who made friends with everyone she met. Her kindness, generosity, loyalty and wisdom will be dearly missed. The daughter of a police officer and a former grocery store owner, she was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, where she met Dad before World War II. Mom waited for him to return from service in Europe and Africa and they were married in 1947. Theirs was a true love story that lasted until Dad's death in 1999. She was a bookkeeper for insurance companies in Des Moines during the war, and when Mom and Dad moved to L.A. shortly after their marriage, she helped run Dad's painting contracting business. Even with that full-time job, which she ran out of a home office, she raised four sons and was tireless in providing a proper upbringing and making a wonderful life for all of us. She and Dad were active in St. Matthias Catholic Church in Huntington Park for more than 50 years. Mom was an avid Lakers and Dodgers fan, and she loved the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by two sons: Brian in 1996 and Danny in 2013. She is survived by two sons, Larry of Arcadia and Steven of San Diego; her loving daughter-in-laws Gloria and Michele, and five grandchildren, Carmen of New York City, Carl (and wife Valerie) of Torrance, Patrick of Arcadia, and Rachel and Jonathan of San Diego.
