Francis Edward "Dick" Dickinson

June 2, 1920 - February 27, 2014 On February 27, 2014, Francis Edward "Dick" Dickinson passed away quietly at home at 93 years of age after a short illness. He was attended by his two daughters Dixie Sandra Porter and Debbie Kovacs Parisi. He was born the son of Grace and Frank Dickinson on June 2, 1920 in Chester, South Dakota, the 6th of 8 children. All have pre-deceased him. Family called him "Fritz" but most people in California called him Dick. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Van Nuys, and later at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch. He served as Chairman of the Board at Fickett Towers in Van Nuys for over 23 years. Dick was a member of the Sherman Oaks Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce and devoted Laker basketball fan. Known in his community for his integrity and his great sense of humor, Dick loved people and he was loved by a lot of people. He was fun to be around because of his jokes and stories of world travels. He maintained an active social life and played cards almost daily while residing with his daughter and son-in-law Bartley Porter in Riverside, CA. Dick's wife Joyce, predeceased him August 12, 2012, but he is survived by his two daughters, four grandchildren, a step grandson, and six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 19700 Rinaldi St., Porter Ranch, CA at 1:00 PM on March 14, 2014. Interment will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California.
