Galileo C. Acosta

Acosta, Galileo C. 1918 - 2004
Leo Acosta, retired Navy Captain and WWII Veteran, died peacefully on April 28, 2004 after a lingering illness. Mr. Acosta graduated from the Philippine Military Academy. He continued with a BSBA from the University of the Philippines Advanced Management Program. Other naval training was at the Pacific Fleet School in San Diego, and Advanced Naval Warfare for Senior Office in Norfolk, Virginia, with multiple military services. He retired on April 1, 1970. Mr. Acosta received the Philippine Defense Medal, the Presidential Unity Citation Badge, the Asiatic Pacific War Theater Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and a medal for Long Service. For civil service, he worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services as a Welfare Investigator. He also ran his own independent real-estate company and was a successful broker. Captain Acosta was married to Commissioner on Aging, Sally T. Acosta, with 3 surviving children, Jennifer Acosta-Bell, Rene Acosta, and Jeanette Acosta, and 6 grandchildren. They have lived in Larchmont Village, Hancock Park area in Los Angeles for 34 years. Viewing will be Friday, April 30 from 4 to 9 P.M. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial services will be on Saturday May 1, at 9:30 A.M. at the Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 South Glendale Ave., Glendale, CA 91205.
