Hubert Maiden

July 12, 1925 - October 13, 2013 We are saddened to announce the loss of Hubert Maiden, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, on October 13, 2013. Bert was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Mack and Sarah Maiden. He attended Central High School and was an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Minnesota and Ripon College, but left school to enlist in the US Army in 1943. He served in the US Army Infantry, the Army Specialized Training Program, Signal Corp, and Military Intelligence. After leaving the Army he moved to California and attended UCLA and then USC Law School, graduating in 1951, having served on the editorial board of the Law Review and being recognized with the Order of the Coif. He became a trial lawyer, representing clients in business, real estate, probate, entertainment and non-profits. He was an associate at Melvin Simon, then with I. H. Prinzemetal. He was a founding partner of Katz Granof & Maiden, then in 1964 formed Maiden & Rosenbloom. He retired in 1987 after suffering for more than thirty years from a back injury suffered in an automobile accident. In 1947 he married Joan Arenson (deceased 2006) and they had twin sons, Bruce (Dawna) and Brent, and daughter Jan (David). He married his great love, Marilyn Pearl Wilkes, on October 19, 1996. They moved to Palm Desert in 1997. He lectured at the Learning and Retirement Program at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert , California. Bert is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn, her son Jonathan, his children Bruce, Brent, and Jan, his grandchildren, Rachel Phares, Matthew Maiden, Kelley Maiden, Isaac Maiden and Ellen Maiden, his brother, Morton Jay Maiden (Marilyn) and his children, Leslie Maiden (Kristy), and Barry (Sheila), and his sister Radee's husband, Mert Marks, and their children, Sheldon, Elise(Dmitri) and Alan. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Radee Marks, her daughter Elaine, and his sister-in-law Marilyn Maiden.
