John Paul Younkin(1930 - 2014)

December 23, 1930 - April 3, 2014 John went to the Lord peacefully after a long illness. His family was at his side. His parents were Josephine and Paul Elbert Younkin of Los Angeles. He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 57 years, Maureen, whom he met at Stanford, and two sons; Douglas, his wife, Stevie, and children Haley, Douglas Jr, Garrett, and Paige; Paul, his wife Susan, and children Connor, Blake and Dirk; a sister Suzanne Lyttle and a brother James Harris and their children. John was class of 1952 at Stanford. After 4 years in the Air Force he graduated in 1956. He worked at Coldwell Banker and for 17 years at the Mission Viejo Company. We had many fun years of tennis and paddle tennis with great friends. Golf was his favorite sport. He played more than 225 courses over the years. We had many great golf trips with our friends. He deeply cared for his golfing and gin rummy buddies and was a loyal friend.Our family took many trips together, camping, beach rentals, river rafting. John deeply loved his family. He was an honest, fun-loving and loyal man. We are grateful to his caretakers, Lilibeth and Shirley. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation of your choice in honor of John. Services are scheduled for 11am Friday, April 11 at La Purisima Catholic Church, 11712 North Hewes, Orange, Ca 92869, Phone: 714-633-5800.
