87, born October 23, 1925 in New Brunswick, NJ, passed away January 9, 2013 in Glendora, CA. Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Mary, and sons: John (Mercedes) of Leucadia, CA, Tom (Zenaida) of Arlington, TX, Scott (Karen) of Fountain Hills, AZ, and daughter Sue of Claremont, CA and seven grandchildren, sister Ruth Marchant of Gloucester, VA and one niece and 3 nephews. He graduated from Hyde Park High, Chicago, IL and from the University of Wisconsin
in Madison in 1950 with BSME and BBA degrees. Between high school and college, he served during WWII
in the US Army
as a lieutenant stationed on Leyte in the Philippines. At the University of Wisconsin he pledged Sigma Chi and met the love of his life, Mary. His favorite song was "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi" and Mary was honored with the title of Sweetheart. After college he worked in manufacturing management until his retirement. He loved golf and was a longtime member of Glendora Country Club. After retirement John and Mary enjoyed traveling to see their children and grandchildren, visiting all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Private graveside rites were held January 12, 2013, at Oakdale Cemetery in Glendora. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army or a Veterans organization.
