Kenneth I. Brody

Kenneth (Kenny) Brody was born in the Bronx, New York, November 16, 1938 to Goldie and David Brody. When Kenny was a toddler, his parents moved to Clinton, MA where his sister, Lynn, was born. Kenny attended Worcester Academy. In 1954 Ken's parents and sister moved to Los Angeles; Ken joined them after graduation from Worcester in 1956. Ken attended UCLA earning a B.S., an M.S. and finally a Ph.D. from the department of Space and Planetary Physics. Ken earned a fellowship from NASA to pursue his studies.
Forty-nine years ago, Ken married Lana Ayeroff and in 1967 their son, Mitchell, was born. Ken was a life long entrepreneur. Ken contributed to the success of various family companies: Van Brody Milling, Lucky Cups and Wonder Container. He was a pioneer in the solar heating industry. For the past twenty-five years, Ken was a venture capitalist and an enthusiastic member of Tech Coast Angels, Southern California.
Ken survived prostate cancer and multiple myeloma. He ultimately succumbed to advanced bladder cancer at home in Pacific Palisades on the evening of September 5. The family greatly appreciates the kindness of Marcia Budd, Linda Henderson and LaTisha Thomas.
Ken leaves to mourn his devoted wife, Lana, his beloved son, Mitchell (Tracy), his granddaughters, Jane Massman and Sunny Jo Brody, his grandson, Mack Massman, his sister, Lynn Brody (Nick Waite), his brother -in-law, Jeff Ayeroff and his sister-in-law, Marty Longbine; his nieces and nephews, Anna and Eve Ayeroff, Brook and Michael Brody-Waite.
Services will held on Tuesday, September 10th at Hillside Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to: UCLA Alumni Scholarships, Cedar Sinai Medical Center Cancer Research and Determined to Succeed, a youth mentor program.
