Leonard GEISERT

GEISERT, Leonard 90, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of California, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Dubuque. Services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, Dubuque, IA, visitation after 9:30 a.m. Burial in Asbury Cemetery, Asbury, IA. He was an aeronautical engineer and worked for North American Aviation, Rockwell, and Northrup. In addition to his work on numerous fighter planes he designed parts of the orbiting command module for the Apollo Space Program, and also storage units in the space shuttle. Later, while working for Northrup he worked on the B-1 stealth bomber. He moved to Dubuque in 2006 after 61 years in California. His faith was a strong part of his life, and his guidance for his family will continue to be an influence.
Survived by sons, Arthur Geisert and Steve (Janel) Geisert; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Geisert; grandson, Noah Geisert; brother Frederick (Vivian) Geisert; and brother-in-law, Dale Boland. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hoffmannschneiderfuneralhomes.com
