Margaret R. Panagos

February 8, 1941 - October 19, 2013 Margaret "Peggy" R. Panagos was born in Detroit, MI, but grew up in Milwaukee, WI. Married to James A. Panagos in 1967, she moved to Northridge with Jim and their daughter, Laurel, the following year. In 1977 they moved to Atlanta, returning to Chatsworth some ten years later. Peggy admired strong, intelligent women and was one herself. She valued education and while raising her daughter she returned to school to earn her BA in economics at CSUN, and later her MS in systems analysis at Georgia Tech. An exceptional businesswoman, she was employed doing insurance risk analysis for 25 years. After her retirement, she volunteered preparing taxes for the needy. A lifelong car racing fan, Peggy enjoyed the thrill of driving, especially along California beaches and through Malibu and Decker Canyons. Never afraid to pick up a wrench, she carried out many ambitious home improvement projects. She was a stock market and gambling enthusiast, an avid reader, a gardener and a gourmet cook, who also loved jazz music and enjoyed travel with her husband. Most of all, she treasured her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Peggy passed away at her home in Chatsworth with her daughter at her side. Her husband, of 45 years predeceased her by three days. Her parents, Earl and Marian Rossman, also predeceased her. In addition to her daughter, Laurel Rogers of San Diego, she is survived by her brothers Jim (Ruth) Rossman and Paul (Pat) Rossman, both of Wisconsin, her nieces and nephews, and her many friends. A joint service will be held for Peggy and Jim at 10:30 a.m. on October 26, 2013, at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation may be made.
