Marie Therese Collins (Mitzi) born April 16, 1928 in Somerville, Mass., died June 17, 2013 in Baldwin Park, CA. Survived by her son, John, daughter-in-law, Lu, and grand-daughter, Kelly. She was married for 52 years to Robert Collins, retired Monterey Park Police Chief, until his death in 2001. Mitzi was pre-deceased by her sister, Jerilyn, but survived by her brother-in-law, Roy Slocum, three nieces, Sharon, Tiffany and Holly of Boston, Mass. and a nephew, John Banks of Albany, Oregon. She worked in banking for 36 years with Bank of America, Pacific Savings and California Federal Bank where she retired as a Vice President. She was a founder and Treasurer of Protector's of the Animals working with various humane society organizations. She resided in Monterey Park for 40 years before moving to San Dimas. Mitzi enjoyed spending time with work friends and the many friends she met along the path of life, including her bingo and poker buddies.
Services will be held on June 25, 2013 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Covina Hills. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the .
