Marlas Joyce Resnick Winston
On March 29th, 2013 the world lost a 'little giant'. Marlas Joyce Resnick Winston was born in St. Paul, MN April 16th, 1932 to Ben and Rose Resnick. Due to her poor health the family moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, California in 1942. By the age of 13 she was driving a stick shift jeep through the streets of L.A. She graduated from Dorsey High, and at the age of 18 she married Sidney Winston, just six months after their blind date! Marlas and Sid raised their three children, Corey, JoJo (Connie Waldeck) and Eddy in Los Angeles.
In 1987 Marlas and Eddy started Mrs. Winston's Green Grocery. She was a second mother to all of her employees and was loved by all. For such a tiny person she had an enormous impact on this world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Rose, her husband Sid, her brother Marvin, and her sister Irene.
Services will be held today, Tuesday, April 2nd at noon, at Mt Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. Donations can be made to Lange Foundation (Animal Rescue Shelter), 2106 S. Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025.
