Mitchell CUSHMAN

CUSHMAN, Mitchell Passed away peacefully on June 23, 2013 at his home in San Diego, CA. Mitchell was born in Pasadena, CA on March 19, 1934, the son of Robert Allen Cushman and Phyllis Mitchell Cushman. He graduated from Alhambra High School before serving two years in Germany in the U. S. Army. Upon completion of his military service he attended Claremont Men's College, which has been renamed Claremont McKenna College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1959. Mitchell attended the University of Southern California where he earned his Degree of Master of Science in City and Regional Planning in 1969. He moved to Seattle where he entered the University of Washington and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1973. Mitchell spent twenty years as a professor, teaching at the University of Arizona in Tucson, The University of Rhode Island in Providence and the University of Texas in Austin. He moved to San Diego in 1993 where he pursued a new career in real estate, specializing in foreclosure properties. Mitchell worked very actively for the Condominium Association where he lived in San Diego and served as its President for eighteen years. Mitchell is survived by a loving sister, Trish Cushman Williams and her husband, Michael, of Naples, FL; his former wife and good friend, Vicki Cushman of Seattle, WA; a close friend, Marie Lia, of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Kathy Hunt and her husband, Gary, of Pleasant Hill, CA, and three grandchildren. The family would like to thank Lightbridge Hospice, San Diego, CA for their compassionate and professional care. American Cremation is handling the arrangements and pursuant to his wishes, Mitchell's ashes will be sprinkled at sea.
