Rae Zweig

December 10, 1913 - February 23, 2014 A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Rae passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was born Rachel Reingold in New York City of hard-working and devoted parents, Bella and Joseph Reingold. At 12 1/2 her family moved to Southern California, settling in Boyle Heights where she attended Roosevelt High School. She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree, a major accomplishment for a woman of her generation. She married the "love of her life" Herman Zweig, whom she met in high school. Rae was intelligent, generous and beautiful. Her sharp memory and keen mind remained with her until her passing. She kept abreast of news and politics and did her own accounting until she was 99 despite being blind. Strong-willed, tough, but genuinely concerned about the welfare of others, she was committed to charitable giving throughout her life. As an adult she volunteered at Cedar Sinai Hospital and spent much time helping elderly women. Rae will be remembered with love by her daughter Diane Levine, son-in-law Larry Levine, granddaughter Alyson Fox, great granddaughter Gabriella Fox, her dedicated caregivers and by all who knew her. A "Celebration of Her Life" will be held at Hillside Memorial Park, Thursday, February 27 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tribute Fund #35442872 in Memory of Rae Zweig at St Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 (800 822-6344)
