Randall Alan Ostin
There are some people that make the world a better place and make us all smile and Randy Ostin was the best example of that. Randall Alan Ostin, aka Dino, was born May 7, 1953 in Southern California. He was the first child born to Evelyn and Morris Ostin. The patriarch of this blue blood music family was the famous father, "Mo" Ostin. Mo started "Reprise" records with Frank Sinatra and was the CEO of Warner Records for 33 years. This was during the heyday of record labels and they had the best artists with legendary names like Jimi Hendrix, Barbara Streisand, Madonna, Prince and Paul Simon just to name a few. Evelyn Ostin, Mo's beloved wife and Randy's loving mother, was one of the most significant women in the history of rock and roll and was referred to as 'Mo's secret weapon'.
These powerhouse parents, along with Randy and his two brothers, Michael and Kenny, provided the house in Encino that was considered "the place to be" in the sixties and seventies. With the combination of music genius, sports stars and a bevy of beautiful women, lifelong friendships were forged during this time and the home was filled with unforgettable memories. And later they moved to the Pacific Palisades. Randy was the pivotal part of this group and was not only handsome and charismatic, he also had a smile that could light up any room. Upon graduating high school in 1971, he was greatly missed when he went on to complete his studies at the University of Denver. With this sort of lineage, Randy had a natural gift and affinity for music. His career moved him to prominent record labels such as the prestigious ELECTRA\ASYLUM. He quickly rose to excellence and success in Promotions. From Atlanta to Chicago, he gained a reputation for being one of the best at breaking new records with his personality and unparalleled charm, he won over all the top DJs old school style. During Randy's tenure at ELECTRA/ASYLUM he was promoted to Regional Director of Promotions. Some of the mega hits he broke included "Running On Empty" (Jackson Brown), "Blue Bayou" (Linda Ronstadt), "We Will Rock You" (Queen) and "We Are The Champions" (Queen). He also was a significant part of the entire "Hotel California" (Eagles) album and went beyond his promotion of this iconic band to build a lasting friendship and a lifelong association. In fact, the Eagles were such big supporters of Randy that in 1980,The Eagles hired this promotional dynamo as head of Promotions on the iconic "The Long Run Tour", one of the most historical tours in rock and roll history. After "The Long Run Tour" Randy also worked at WARNER/REPRISE and RCA. His heart and hands would remain in the music business and the world of music for his entire life.
While Randy's first love was always music, he also was very successful in business and in all entrepreneurial endeavors. He worked with the Marvin Davis Company as an investment consultant. In another example of the diverse abilities and skills of Randy Ostin, he became an investing partner with the legendary nightlife impresario, Mark Packer, to develop TAO.This later led to Randy's significant participation in other TAO Group Empire clubs such as LAVO and they are, in 2013, still going strong. While this upbeat, positive and brave man continued his battle with cancer. Randy was always surrounded by his immediate family. This included his father, Mo, and his brother Michael by his side constantly. He was also greatly supported by his lifelong friends and many more loved ones, all who were constantly with him throughout his four year battle.
