Richard was born in Los Angeles to parents Nathan and Mildred and remained a proud Los Angeleno for all of his life. He was a gifted golfer who excelled at an early age in the junior system and later played at Hamilton High School (where he was also on the football and wrestling teams) and at the University of California, Berkeley. As a graduate of UCLA
, he remained a fervid Bruins athletic supporter throughout his life. Richard was a trailblazing entrepreneur in several business endeavors including co-founding the John Wooden Youth Basketball league. He was also a talented sports photographer, and worked with several universities and the LA Raiders. He is survived by his son David (Lauren); daughter Pamela (Chris) Damsen; sister Diane (Ed) Siegel and grandchildren Amelia, Lily, and Ben. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice Laureen. Richard brought a joyful passion to everything he did and will be greatly missed.
