Fr. Richard Johnson

Father Richard Johnson, C.P., 90, died Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital stroke I.C.U. in Louisville, Kentucky. A native of southern California, he professed his Passionist vows in 1944 and was ordained a priest in 1951. As a Passionist and priest, Fr. Richard generously served God as a seminary professor, associate pastor, retreat center staff member, auxiliary military chaplain and an itinerant preacher. He is survived by his Passionist community, as well as numerous relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 noon Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center chapel, 700 North Sunnyside in Sierra Madre, with burial to follow in the Passionist cemetery in Sierra Madre. A vigil for Fr. Richard will be held from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 Noon Wednesday. Local arrangements are in care of Cabot and Sons Mortuary, Pasadena. Memorial gifts may be made to the Passionist community, 1924 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205.
